MACON - MoDOT announces the contractor plan to temporarily close to traffic the Route P Bridge over Salt Creek in Howard County beginning on Monday, August 9 at around 7:30 a.m. The bridge is located approximately 4.7 miles northeast of New Franklin.
The closure will allow the contractor, Widel, Inc., to replace the deteriorated bridge deck. The work is expected to take approximately 60 days to complete, but is weather dependent and could be delayed or rescheduled.
During the closure motorists must choose alternate routes. Although no posted detour will be in place, one suggested detour would be Route 5 to Route 40 to Route 240 to Route P.
This is the second bridge in Howard County within the same contract to be rehabilitated this year. The Hungry Mother Creek Bridge on Route 124 was completed and opened to traffic last month. The last of the three bridges is located on Route DD over Bonne Femme and will be closed for rehabilitation sometime after the Route P bridge reopens to traffic.
MoDOT will advise the public when Route P is scheduled to reopen and when the Route DD Bridge is expected to close to traffic.
The contract for the three deck replacements was awarded to Widel for $685,529.00.
