SIKESTON-Work to replace the Route W bridge over Little River Drainage Ditch No. 291 in Scott County is scheduled to begin Monday, July 12, weather permitting. During construction, the roadway will remain closed from Route P to Route CC. Completion is anticipated in late August.
"This is the first design-build bridge project to begin in Scott County," said Southeast Regional Field Engineer Andy Meyer.
He explained unlike the Safe and Sound Bridge Improvement Program's quick-start projects, which consisted of deck replacements, design-build projects include total bridge replacements. Thirteen Scott County bridges are included in the design-build portion of the program.
Signs and warning devices will be in place. Motorists are urged to use extreme caution while traveling near the area.
For more information, please contact Meyer at (573) 472-5296, Assistant Resident Engineer David Wyman at (573) 840-9781 or 1-888-ASK-MoDOT (275-6636), or visit www.modot.org/southeast/safeandsound.htm.
