Upcoming Ribbon Cuttings:

Drivers on Route 94 in St. Charles County will have easier access to Route 364 when the Missouri Department of Transportation and its contractor, Fred Weber Inc., open the first section of Phase 2 of the Route 364 project at Harvester Road after a ribbon cutting tomorrow.

The public is cordially invited to help MoDOT celebrate the completion at the ceremony at 9 a.m. Tuesday, July 27 on the eastbound lanes of new Route 364 near the new Harvester Road overpass. The eastbound lanes of the route will open shortly after the ceremony is complete. Westbound lanes will open before afternoon rush period Wednesday, July 28.

Participants can access the ribbon cutting ceremony by taking the ramp from the south outer road (between Jungermann Road and Harvester Road) onto the eastbound lanes.

This roadwork will eliminate the need for Route 94 traffic to stop at a traffic signal on Harvester Road. This should speed up the flow of traffic on Route 94/364 significantly during morning and evening rush periods.

This is the first section of Route 364, Phase II to be completed. This $19.7 million project constructed an additional mile of Route 364, from west of Jung Station Road, and to just east of Woodstone Drive. Crews also constructed a new bridge to take Harvester Road over Route 364 and built one-way outer roads.

The Missouri Department of Transportation and the City of Washington invited the public on Saturday, July 10 to celebrate the opening of the new lanes on Route 100 between Interstate 44 and Route 47 in Washington. A walk/bike event was held at 8 a.m., (rain or shine), and a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10:30 a.m., near St. John’s Road (rain or shine). Prior to the ceremony, the Washington Brass Band played music near the ribbon cutting.

The new lanes on Route 100 will opened on Thursday, July 15. Crews may still be present along the highway for two weeks following the opening to put the finishing touches on Route 100.

The Route 100 Widening Project is a cost-share partnership between MoDOT and the City of Washington. The last construction contract was awarded to Millstone Bangert for approximately $21.1 million. This project consists of two additional lanes on Route 100 from Interstate 44 to Route 47. The widening of Route 100 will improve the capacity and safety of the highway for Franklin County motorists.

Route 100 from Interstate 44 to Route 47 had exceeded its capacity for a two-lane roadway and could no longer handle the amount of traffic that uses it on a daily basis. MoDOT identified traffic congestion and safety as the major transportation issues of concern. In 1972, Route 100 between Interstate 44 and Route 47 was rebuilt to provide a straighter alignment and improve visibility at intersections. In 2003, the roadway was resurfaced. The current average daily traffic count is 16,000 vehicles per day. By 2020, that volume is expected to nearly double to 30,000 vehicles per day.
